Does celebrity news dominate TV and newspapers?

Celebrity news
har asked:

Maybe it’s because I live in So. Calif, but it seems that celebs get lots of front page coverage and air time. I’m tired of hearing about their arrests, escapades, rehab, and generally obnoxious life-style. Anybody else?

It’s unbelievable. There is war, hunger and strife all over the world and the top story is which starlet crashed her car or had a DUI. It’s a disgrace…

Take a look yourself. CNN, Yahoo, etc. It’s all about LiLo

When Paris Hilton was out of jail for the day, it was considered “Breaking News”, and it interrupted my tv.

Yes, the amount of time spent on Paris in jail or Britney’s panties or no panties, let alone the hours of news on Lindsay’s latest drunken sprees, makes me sick! There are so many people who deserve press whether celebs or not! I would like to see the press say they would cover celebs if they were doing something wonderful for the world, not adding to the already overkill of negativity. Maybe if we pushed that kind of P.R. we could get some good out there. We need more Oprah, Bono, & Angelina Jolie’s out there to read about. Kids need a role model & inspirational figure to look up to….not garbage!!! Oh well I could only dream……….

It seems that way to me, too.
Apparently there are enough people watching to boost the ratings to keep the media shoveling that useless crap down our throats. I have even stopped turning the “news” on the TV, except for the local SoCal weather info every now and then.
It’s truly pathetic how important issues are ignored so we can all learn about Lohans latest infraction, or what Paris is doing now.
    It’s sickening.

Too much. … Oh, wait a minute — I was just IMd that Paris sneeezed.

this type of “stuff” belongs on the entertainment channel or dealt with on those type shows in the evening not main stream or cable news. One reporter shredded her lead in story on Paris and l thought that was great. I only saw the replay of it and l usually watch that show.
