Jim Baw asked:
No one is completely compatible in what they like to watch. For instance, my girlfriend loves clean house, some dancing show, and a few other makeover and/or celebrity gossip shows that I can’t stand, but I tolerate to spend some time with her, rather than going in the other room alone.

How much do you suffer for the greater good?

Got around the problem by having two TVs in the lounge with a set of wireless headphones on one. That way her indoors could watch girly stuff and I could watch the footy.

LMAO…not very often. He has it during the day, and I get it at night…so, I’m pretty sure he’s the one suffering=( I will give it up for a couple of his favorites, though…Cops and Antique Roadshow *yawn*.

I’m fortunate in way because our tastes converge on many things, and TV is one among them. We both **** reality TV, both love comedies/movies. It hasn’t been a problem now.
Now, 50% of the marriages in the US end in divorce, and >75% of them are initiated by women. I wonder what portion of that 75% is because the men wouldn’t share TV time with these women and what part of that would be women who were ‘forced’ to have *** when they had ‘headaches that can’t be fixed by Tylenol’…

More like bad movies…… why oh why are there romantic movies =_=

We only have Lifetime and Oxygen in our house. My partner thinks everything else is just too sexist and I agree.

I watch CSI with him and we watch America’s Got Talent. Other than that If there is something he is watching that I don’t like I go find something else to do. He does the same when I watch something that he does not like. We don’t spend very much time watching TV anyway.
March 5th, 2010 at 12:41
Not much…we dont live together so for the most part we watch what we want. Usually we like the same stuff, but I have suffered through a couple of episodes of man vs wild.
March 7th, 2010 at 07:56
Well we both got each other into what we like. I love football. Now she can’t wait to cook for US to watch football together. She has gotten me into American Idol and So you think you can dance. I must admit, I rush to make sure WE don’t miss it, where I first hated all shows like them.
March 7th, 2010 at 11:37
We don’t really watch TV. When we both want to engage in a little mindless vegetating, he plays World of Warcraft and I watch movies on my laptop.
March 8th, 2010 at 03:22
i don’t know…
i mean, i go see some movies with him that i didn’t really WANT to see, but i don’t consider that “suffering”, it’s just…compromise.
March 10th, 2010 at 22:09
zero, I’m single, if I were in a relationship I would just leave the room to another TV or computer.
March 11th, 2010 at 07:19
We both have good taste and only watch quality programming like Oprah, Ellen, Thelma and Louise, Buffy and Xena the Warrior Princess.
March 12th, 2010 at 00:43
LOL! This is very true. At least the genders are equal in this one.
March 13th, 2010 at 00:02
None and I never did. I have a life outside of my partner.
I watch on another t.v. what I want
March 15th, 2010 at 16:43
I don’t. We agree on 99% of shows since we’re both huge sci-fi fans. He watches True Blood but I can’t stand it, and I sometimes watch BBC shows without him because the accent drives him nuts.
March 17th, 2010 at 01:33
I TIVO the shows I like, and watch them when I feel like it. We watch the same news shows, and during football season, I read a book, watch tv in another room, cook, etc. TV is not something that we do to spend time together. We go for walks, ride bikes, work in the yard, and engage in other interactive pursuits, if we want to spend time together.
March 17th, 2010 at 07:20
Not much really, we both like lots of action, true crime shows and sci-fi. I think my husband suffers more than I because I also like Clean House (him not so much) and a lot of the shows on BBC. He puts up with my taste for british comedy. All I have to put up with is the occasional Mythbusters and Survivorman, which really aren’t all that bad.
March 18th, 2010 at 08:42
If my husband is watching something I don’t want to watch, I normally read or go on the computer. I don’t feel obliged to watch a programme because he likes it, and vice versa. I don’t see any necessity at all for anyone to ’suffer’ by watching something on TV they are not interested in. Isn’t there something else you can do besides watching TV?
March 19th, 2010 at 23:20
About 6-8 hours. He suffers through nothing for me! He always storms off in a tantrum.
I’d rather spend time with him even if I’m bored out of my skull.
March 23rd, 2010 at 05:38
get two tv’s
